We’re at a point of shifting gears as we adjust our tempo
& direction in the first few days of 2012. We have a bit of time to take stock of ourselves & our
lives after the recent set of shifts before we head into the next batch of
impending changes.
We are through the emotional upheaval of the holiday
eclipses, with our minds & hearts thoroughly flossed & flushed of
used-up ideas & the emotions that birthed them. Mercury has left the shadow of his recent retrograde, and makes
his way into Capricorn, late on the night of January 7th. This gives you a chance to put your
newly freshened philosophies into practical action.
Another major shift:
Jupiter went direct on December 25th after four months of
retrograding in the early degrees of Taurus, giving you the green light to take
a leap into a more thorough enjoyment of & participation in life. Taurus is interested in serenity &
nature, so hopefully the peace movement & the environmental movement get a
boost from this planetary shift.
Because Jupiter is connected with philosophy, & because change
starts at the individual level, know that the more you practice peace in your
life & relationships and awareness & respect for the Earth, as opposed
to finger-pointing at others’ brutality, the more these energies will be able
to increase in the world. Little
kerplunks lead to big ripples. We
are little pebbles, far too small to see what far-reaching effects we have
through our actions & intentions.
Although full moons are typically stimulating, this full
moon shows a somewhat more settled energy, relative to the past month or
so. With Mercury & Pluto in
Capricorn, trine Jupiter in Taurus, & the Sun in Capricorn, trine Mars in
Virgo, there is a brief steady-as-she-goes blip in this time of push-pull
energies. This combination gives
us clarity about the eventual forwards momentum we’ll be able to enjoy more
thoroughly in the summer. Take stock
of what you feel drawn to manifesting now, and know that you have seven months
or so to revise your plans before it’s all-systems-go.
The moon is in Cancer - the most feeling oriented of all the
signs. By feelings, I mean both
emotions and intuitive perception.
These two branches of the feeling tree are intrinsically linked. A full moon in Cancer gives you
perspective on your gut and heart feelings, so take some time to yourself to
feel these out. You’ll be able to
make use of these insights in the coming months.
A Cancer full moon always involves a pull between inner
& outer needs, but this tug-o-war is accentuated in this particular full
moon due to Mars’ aspects to the luminaries, and due to house placement. Questions to ask yourself at this time
are: How do I need to take better care of myself? What are my emotions, & what are they trying to tell
me? How can I maintain my
responsibilities to those I love AND my work in the world that my heart calls
me to do? How can I be better
nurtured & supported by the work I do? What messages is my body sending me that I need to respond
to?
In addition to this polarity, there is still tension in the
realm of personal versus relationship needs. Continue to face & work through these issues in yourself
& with those you are in relationship with. Mercury & Pluto offer transformation through communication
that is delivered & received with integrity & honesty. Neptune, Venus & Chiron offer you
the abilities to heal old wounds through relating compassionately, & to let
go of what is not working for you in your relationships - whether that is the relationship
itself, a role you play in the relationship, or a mindset you cling to in the
context of relating.
These are the recent & current shifts. Take them in, and let them settle, for
there is more change a’comin’.
I’ll go into the coming Mars retrograde & Neptune’s approaching
ingress into Pisces in the New Moon blog in a couple of weeks. If you wish to receive emails letting
you know when my new postings are up, please email me. Thanks,
