Full Moon in Leo, Neptune enters Pisces, 2/7/12 & 2/3/12 respectively

Several planetary shifts occurring in the next couple of weeks color the effect of this full moon.

February 3rd is a seminal day as slow, watery Neptune moves from Aquarius, where he’s been drifting through since 1998 & 1999, into his home base of Pisces.  Neptune will swim through Pisces for the next 14 years, so today & this weekend are good times to set intentions of how you want to make use of this energetic pattern.

Neptune’s spectrum of influence ranges from creativity, romance and mysticism on the high end, to delusion, confusion & escapism on the low end.  These effects are strongest in the sign of Pisces, so watch out!  Through this transit, you have the opportunities in the next 14 years to reach higher levels of consciousness & deeper levels of creativity, & to experience powerful romance, both in relationship with others & with the Cosmos/Divine/whatever title you give to the Mystery.

Be warned, however, that Neptune’s messages are tricky to interpret, & the territory he presents you with is difficult to navigate.  Neptune & his inspirations are otherworldly, but as long as we are alive in our bodies, we are of this world.  Some of the inspirations Neptune offers get lost in translation, & we can get lost with them.  In the earlier part of this 14-year transit, we are more likely to fall into Neptunian traps of delusion.  But I do have some handy tips that may help you chart your course more effectively through Neptune’s fog.

1.          Think back to any shifts you may have experienced April - July of 2011, when Neptune dipped his feet into Pisces before retrograding back into Aquarius.  This was the prelude to the Neptune in Pisces fugue.  You may notice that April & May brought in a new vision for you, and that June & July were times of reworking that vision.  Pay close attention to what of that vision did & did not work in this reality.  This is the essence of how you are likely to either go astray or stay on course through this transit.

1.      Determine how you want to grow in consciousness, & also why you want to grow in consciousness.  What or whom does that growth serve?  Whether you take up meditation, or work with a spiritual mentor, or simply commit to being more mindful, make a solid commitment to that path AND, to help you stay on course, develop an awareness around how this growth serves not only you, but the people in your life & even beyond the scope of your life, and also Nature.

1.      If you are in the arts, consider how your art may more deeply serve humanity and/or Nature.  Neptune is one of the planets that asks us to move beyond our own desires & needs.  The arts have always been sources of inspiration to people.  The arts are the crest of the wave of social trends & levels of awareness.  So proceed with this in mind if you are in the arts.  What is the change & hope you feel humanity needs?  Give that through your creations.

4.  Develop your capacity for compassion, loving kindness, & universal love.  By love, I mean a love that is not personal, but transpersonal.  You know you’re there, in it & feeling it, when you have a sense of unity & interconnectedness of all people AND all things.  It’s totally cosmic, dude!  But seriously, this is the most powerful healing force around.  This is what made Ghandi so effective.  He fought (& won!) with the power of love.

Here are ways you’ll know you’re getting off course with Neptune in Pisces:

1.     All you want to do is engage in pleasureful or escapist activities, which include drugs, drinking, overeating, watching TV or movies, playing video games, surfing the internet, social media feeling more important than tangible human interaction.  The temptations for all of these activities will GREATLY increase in the coming years.  Look out for new hallucinogens on the market, perhaps even becoming prescribed drugs.  Look out for video games & other forms of entertainment becoming even more sensory-loaded.  These temptations will suck you in like a vortex if you are not conscious, so BE MINDFUL & STAY MINDFUL!!!
2.     You believe you’re some kind of savior.  Nope.  Sorry.  You’re one of us, the humans.  Stay connected to humanity.  Yes, you’re special.  Yes, you have a particular gift.  But you were born from a woman’s body, & you’re going to die someday.  Maintain your sense of specialness with a grain of salt.
3.      You have a brilliant idea or you are brilliant, & you just have to wait for everything to fall into place & happen for you.  It’s true that things can’t happen before they’re ready.  A certain ripeness needs to be present.  HOWEVER, we need to put forth effort so that we have our garden ready when that wave of perfect weather comes in that makes everything blossom & fruit.  Under this category of Neptune in Pisces flubs, I add this: Whining is both ineffective & unattractive.  Neptune in Pisces offers great beauty, so rise to your challenges with grace.

On to the full moon & other planetary news...

In the morning of the full moon day, Saturn stations retrograde in the last degree of Libra, which he’s been trudging through since 2009.  This gives you the opportunity to clean up any lingering relationship business that has arisen for you since then.  You’ll have until October of this year to do so.  Then Saturn will enter Scorpio, at which time you may find yourself reading another long-winded blog about the do’s & don’ts of some planet in some sign again.  In the meantime, clean up your relationships.  End the ones that aren’t working, & evolve & deal with the problems in the relationships that are worth continuing.  With Saturn in Libra, aim towards equal exchange in relationships.  If your relationship feels off-balance (love relationships & other relationships), where either person is giving too much, amend that situation in whatever way feels most appropriate.

Also, with Neptune so recently entering Pisces, & in a trine relationship with Saturn, beware of deluding yourself in your relationships... and of being deluded by the other person.  Especially watch out for passive aggressive behavior in yourself and in others.  These two signs also are associated with the arts.  The combination here suggests that artists fine-tune their practical plans for appropriately & effectively furthering their art in the coming years.  Here’s that “get real” energy so many of us dreamy artists need.  Tap into it before it moves on!  During the full moon, Saturn will be in the 5th house, opposite Jupiter in Taurus.  This further emphasizes that opportunity to expand your creative vision through practical effort & realistic planning.  This is true for any creative project, whether it is in the arts or not.

A Leo full moon is generally a time to get out & show yourself to the world or to your community.  You long (& need) to express yourself to others at this time.  You want attention, but you are also aware of the needs of the collective.  Under this influence, you have the opportunity to speak your truth or display yourself in some way that benefits others.  That’s the high road, anyhow.  There’s always just getting attention for attention’s sake, & robbing or attempting to rob the collective of their energy & needs.  As always, it’s your choice!

This particular full moon suggests a great deal of activity in the outer world that ricochets back into our inner worlds.  It’ll be a time of getting out & meeting with people, & having conversations that you’ll be ruminating on & perhaps dreaming about later.

This full moon is very communication-oriented, with the Moon in the 3rd house & the Sun conjunct Mercury.  Expect a lot of chatter.  Tons.  This could be distracting, actually.  Make sure you pick your words carefully, and as always, LISTEN!  Listen with all of your attention, both to the words that are being said, & to the subtler messages coming through in body language & other cues.

Also, retrograding Mars exactly opposes the asteroid, Vesta & widely opposes Venus, furthering the tension between inner & outer, personal & collective, I & thou.  This overall pattern of this full moon suggests a need to balance one’s own needs with the needs of others.  Speak, but also listen.  Give, but also receive.  Be yourself, but in a way that augments the whole of your community.

Venus moves into Aries the night of the full moon day, where she’ll be gliding through until early March.  This suggests a time of acting on your values, of instigating the manifestation of your desires.  Venus will conjunt Uranus two days later on the night of February 9th, suggesting a time of connecting with new people or with a new community.  This could really electrify your life, as the people we know is one of the greatest determining factors in the direction of our lives.

And to everyone, thank you for reading.  If you wish to schedule a private reading with me, please go here.  Until next report, may you ride the crests of these waves with grace & joy.
